Here you will find the Board Member Job Description, Candidate Statements, a NASCO Active Member Ballot and a NASCO Individual Ballot. Please review the candidate statements closely and allocate your ballots carefully. There is only a limited time to vote, so please respond by Thursday, April 25th 2013.
Each NASCO member co-op is assigned votes based on the number of members in the co-op. The following elections rules have been adopted:
- Ballots are allocated on the basis of one ballot for every five members of your co-op. All fractions are rounded up. For example, if your co-op has 200 members, your co-op receives 40 ballots.
- There are 8 board seats open at this time. Your co-op can cast votes equal to your number of ballots multiplied by the number of seats open. For example, a co-op with 40 ballots will receive 8 times 40 ballots or 320 votes in total.
To simplify voting, NASCO uses a cumulative voting procedure. This means you may cast all of your ballots for one candidate or split your votes in any way you choose.
For Indidvidual members, according to NASCO bylaws, you may cast as many votes as there are open seats. Since there are 8 open seats this year, you may cast up to 8 votes.
You may cast all of your votes for one candidate or split them among the candidates, as you prefer.
Each co-op determines its own method for allocating ballots, whether through Board decision, delegation to a person of a committee, or through a membership input system. NASCO must be given a written report of your co-op’s vote on the enclosed NASCO Member Ballot form. The form may be mailed to the NASCO office or scanned and emailed to farheen(at)nasco.coop.
If you have any questions, please contact Farheen by phone at 630-890-3165 or email at farheen(at)nasco.coop. Thank you for taking the time to read through the candidate statements and cast your votes!
