Co-op / Organization:
Cooperative Council of NC
Location:
Raleigh, NC
Type of Organization:
Association/Federation
Brief Description of Organization:
CCNC was established in 1935 by dairy farmers in North Carolina. We provide four main events through the year. The Annual Meeting is in the first quarter and is a two day educational event with networking and connecting. The Cooperative Leadership Camp which is in June takes up to 70 teens out for five days and four nights to build a Cooperative and run and produce tee shirts. Regional Co-op 101 is our education program in the fall that provides local education to our members. Lastly, Cooperative Dynamics is a workshop at the end of the year for new cooperative employees to understand the principles, governance, and economic impact of cooperatives in our state and nation.
Beyond these programs we have partnered with the Cabot Cheese Cooperative as well as NCBA to bring the Coops for Community scouting patch program to North Carolina and have had several troops of scouts earn their Co-op Patch in the last few months alone.
Our mission is to Promote, Educate and Connect cooperatives across the state. We do this through our social media, our website, as well as through mail support of our members for their cooperative programs.
