Context for this Position: The Boulder Housing Coalition (BHC) is the preeminent cooperative housing organization in Colorado, and has been spearheading the creation and development of affordable, community-focused housing in Boulder for 25 years. The BHC currently manages four cooperative houses in Boulder serving 65 low-income residents. We are actively working on expanding and hope to open our first co-op in Denver in 2025! One representative from each of our four houses sits on our board of directors. We seek to fill out our board with qualified community members. 

 

The Boulder Housing Coalition is seeking individuals who share our passion for inclusive affordable cooperative housing and are looking to make a meaningful contribution while building skills and community as a Community Representative on our Board of Directors. 

The Board members play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization, ensuring we stay true to our mission & values, and effectively serve our community.

  • Community Board Representatives provide critical oversight and guidance to ensure the health and success of the organization, partnering with the House Representatives and Staff to review reports on the organization's finances, program metrics and organizational policies.

  • Additional responsibilities include actively assisting in fundraising goals, promoting our work at events, fundraisers and community networking opportunities.

  • All Community Representatives sit on one additional committee - Development, Cooperation, or Inclusion. 

While all skill sets are valuable and welcome, we are particularly interested in those with experience in:

  • Non profit administration

  • Real Estate

  • Finance

  • Development/Fundraising

  • Social Justice 

  • Mortgage lenders 

  • Law

  • Property Management

The time commitment for Community Board Representatives includes monthly meetings on the third Tuesdays of every month 6:30-8:30, hosted by the cooperative houses and preceded by a potluck dinner with the community. There are occasional email communications between meetings. Community Board Representatives are expected to attend our annual fundraiser in the spring.
