Organization Description
The BSC is a student-owned and run student housing cooperative. It owns and operates 20 properties housing ~1300 members. This position, in close collaboration with member leaders and other staff, plans and directs strategic initiatives that support the growth and development of BSC members. The CxM also oversees various programs, including member health and safety, anti-oppression, emergency preparedness, conflict mediation, and processing and review of conduct complaints. The CxM supervises 4 full-time staff.
Job Description Overview
The Member Resources Coordinator (MRC) at the Berkeley Student Cooperative (BSC) connects members with a variety of resources. For 90 years, the BSC has been a student-owned and run student housing cooperative. It owns and operates 20 properties housing ~1300 members.
In collaboration with management and other stakeholders, this position addresses members' concerns related to mental health, substance abuse, sexual harassment, and interpersonal conflicts. The MRC provides training and support to various groups of member leaders, engages in conflict resolution, and ensures a safe and inclusive environment.
This position plans and delivers new member orientation, collaborates with University of California Health Services and other local partners on health programs, emergency preparedness, and supervises the party safety program. The MRC serves as the primary contact for members with health and well-being concerns, working to provide support, identify follow-up actions, and connect members with relevant resources.
Qualifications
The role requires excellent management and supervisory skills, effective communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills, and a commitment to creating and maintaining an inclusive and positive work environment.
Direct experience in conflict mediation, living or working in a cooperative environment, and experience working with under-represented students in a college context is preferred.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience, ideally experience supervising college students in a student housing context.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position, with compensation based on prior experience and skill level. The starting salary range is from $73,382.40 to $80,891.20 annually. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents, paid holidays, vacation & sick leave, long-term disability & life insurance, 403b plan, annual cost-of-living increases, and annual performance-based raises and/or bonuses.
