Session materials from "Lies About Allies: Creating Cooperative Solidarity," presented by Maisie Kise and Charlie Anderle at NASCO Institute 2015.

Our workshop aims to look critically at our interpersonal relationships with the goal of building solidarity against oppression in cooperative spaces. We hope to explore the concept of “allyship” and discuss its commodification or nominal use as currency within cooperative communities, focusing on how we can avoid exploiting the struggle of marginalized people for our own validation. This workshop will offer resources for participants to educate themselves on how to create and hold space for marginalized members of their community. From our discussion, we will be compiling everyone’s ideas in a zine to be printed for later distribution.
