North American Students of Cooperation is hiring a Director of Community Engagement
North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO) is accepting applications for a new position as Director of Community Engagement. Established in 1968 by members of student housing cooperatives, NASCO is a bi-national membership association of non-profit cooperatives in the US and Canada.
With nearly 60 member cooperatives representing 3,000 cooperators, NASCO is seeking a committed person who will engage with our membership through social media and other campaigns, support member involvement in the direction of the organization, and connect our members with the broader socially just cooperative movement. Part of this position involves conducting our grassroots fundraising campaign and building our alumni network in order to grow the cooperative movement.
NASCO has just gone through a strategic planning process, and are in the process of writing a strategic plan that will guide our work in the coming years. We are poised to expand from 4 staff to 5 staff with the hiring of this new position. NASCO operates using a non-hierarchical management structure, and this position would be joining the consensus-based staff collective after a probationary period of three months. All staff collective members are expected to participate in the management of the organization.
