Covid Safety
NASCO's work is rooted in disability justice, and we honor calls from disability community advocates to continue taking prevention measures against Covid-19. In order to enjoy the benefits of convening in person, all attendees take on the following responsibilities for community care:
- Wearing a high-filtration mask (N95, KN95, or equivalent) is required during all indoor conference activities. For eating, we encourage everyone to spread out and/or move outdoors, and to step out of the room if you need to eat a snack during program content. Out of respect for conference attendees who may be high-risk, we ask that you also wear your mask in indoor public spaces in the days leading up to the convening, especially during your travel (planes, buses, airports, rest stops, etc).
- If you are experiencing symptoms (such as a cough, shortness of breath, fever or chills, aching, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, etc.), even if you have a negative covid test, please stay home! We will refund registrations for anyone who cannot attend due to illness or a positive Covid test.
- Please plan to complete a rapid Covid test prior to traveling to Madison and pack a few tests for use as needed during the convening.
If staying in free housing at a local co-op, additional requirements may be provided by the co-op. Registering for the convening and requesting free housing indicate your agreement to follow all Covid safety guidelines.
We will have a limited supply of rapid tests and face masks available at the event for attendees who are unable to obtain their own supplies.
